Risks

Our Marathon and Spectator packages entail risks, as it is virtually impossible to take the adventure out of adventure travel and the challenge of competing at an altitude of 2400 metres or for that matter, being a spectator at an altitude of 2400 metres. This said, we put the safety of our guests first; it is our commitment not to jeopardize the health and safety of our guests.

Bhutanese Prayer Wheel

A partnership is required to mitigate the risks and to keep them at arms length; this understanding is formed between you (our guest – competitor or spectator), and our organization.

Due to the elevation of Marathon Bhutan, it is extremely important to take sufficient fluids and to get adequate rest prior to the race and to protect yourself from the unpredictable weather patterns. Inadequate preparation, training and pacing and inadequate hydration could result in life-threatening conditions. Furthermore, the consumption of alcohol should be avoided 48 prior to the marathon.

Mother Nature

Marathon Bhutan is not responsible or liable for any acts of Mother Nature. We will make every effort to exceed your race and spectator expectations. However we are not responsible for any changes in format or cancellation due to weather and unforeseeable circumstances.

Paro TaktsangTrip Cancellation

We reserve the right to cancel the marathon if there are insufficient reservations 60 days prior to the marathon race date. We are not responsible or liable for any inconveniences or financial setbacks caused due to the cancellation of the marathon. Please ensure that you have insured your plane tickets in case of a cancellation.

Insurance

We strongly recommend that you, your family and dependents have personal insurance and health insurance with appropriate coverage before traveling to Bhutan. Insurance is indispensable in the unlikely event that anything should occur while traveling, viewing or competing in Marathon Bhutan. This insurance should cover emergency evacuation, loss of property and/or accident, injury or death.
