Course markings

All road junctions along the course will be marked with chalk markers to indicate the route. We have also put our aid stations at critical junctions to help with course navigation. We will mark every 5 kilometers as well as have distance markers at every aid station.

Aid stations

Aid stations will be stocked with bottled water, energy drinks (probably Gatorade) and bananas for runners. They will also have communication facilities in case of emergencies. Please drop all plastic bottles and disposables at the aid stations. We want to avoid littering.

Support vehicles

We will have buses following the race for those who are unable to complete the course. We will also have medical staff on stand by and an ambulance on the course.

Weather

Precautions should be taken against the sun or cold and potential rain or wind. Temperatures range from 14 degrees Celsius to 27 degrees Celsius during the month of May. The race start will be cooler due to the official start time.

Warning / Caution: Due to the elevation of Marathon Bhutan, it is extremely important to take sufficient fluids and to get adequate rest prior to the race. Inadequate preparation, training and pacing and inadequate hydration could result in life-threatening conditions. Furthermore, the consumption of alcohol should be avoided 48 prior to the marathon. Should you begin to experience any difficulties, please seek medical assistance.

The finish line

Upon crossing the finish line, promptly move through the finish area in order to accommodate the other competitors crossing the finish line. We will have a buffet lunch for our international guest runners at the start finish line.

Closing ceremony and prize distribution will be held at the start/finish point at 2:30pm.

Photography

Runners will be photographed at three locations along the course, and at the finish line. Please check the website once you return home. All photographs posted will be identified by the racer’s bib number.
