Thimphu Marathon 2008
September 7th, 2008 saw Thimphu host its first ever sanctioned international marathon. The race kicked off at 6:30am after a traditional opening ceremony. A total of 134 runners took part in the event.
DragonQuest Adventures would like to congratulate Mr. Andrew Kotulski on the successful completion of his 606th marathon and Mr. John Wallace who is now well on his way to achieve his dream of running marathons in a hundred different countries. Mr. Frank Ouseley, despite a quadruple bypass surgery, successfully completed the full marathon and was an inspiration to all. For 2010 we are looking to introduce the valley of Paro to our distance runners. At an altitude of 2,280m (7,480ft) it lies between the Punakha and Thimphu marathons in both elevation and difficulty.
